How can I get back my athleticism

r/

I’m 29 and approaching 30. Growing up I was playing multiple sports and was pretty athletic until I started undergrad and I threw it all away and started smoking as well. For the past year I’ve been getting back into playing sports at least once a week and trying to stay consistent in the gym and I do stretch pretty regularly. But my body just aches A LOT! My knees, ankles, and lower back constantly hurt. I started taking supplements like Vitamin D+K2, Magnesium Biglycnate, and Collagen but it’s pretty early to feel a difference. I know it’s pretty common for men to be in their peak athletic form in their 30s and I’m trying to achieve that. What’s your advice?

Update: Thank you all for the great advice and motivation. It certainly takes time the older we get so I’ll do my best to stay consistent and see results soon. For the record, It’s been a year since I quit smoking and I’ve never felt better.
