How can I overcome burnout?

r/

I’ve been burnt out to different degrees over the past few years. Sometimes I feel like I’ve recovered when I have a lot of excitement in my life (plans, trips, etc.) but working 9-5 for the past 4 years and dealing with all that it comes with has really done a number on me. to the point where I don’t enjoy the things that I used to do in my freetime anymore and all I want to do is what Netflix. I still hang out with friends and have fun but the second I think about work, I literally sigh without realizing it lol it can happen in the middle of any moment. I’ve read that this happens to people every few years or so throughout their career though. Without any drastic measures, how can I overcome burnout?

You need to spend at least half an hour outside during daylight hours every day.

On weekends you should try to make plans to get together with your family or friends and do something that you enjoy, even if it’s just playing cards or mini golf or having a picnic in a park.

You should also exercise for half an hour, 3 days in the week.

Make a ‘bare minimum’ list. Instead of trying to do everything, ask yourself: what are the 3 things that must happen today? Do those and let the rest go.

Maybe you should consider a job change. You sound as if your current position drags you down big time.

Yes, it’s normal. Focus on boundaries, rest, small joys, and breaking routine. Little daily resets work better than waiting for vacations.
