It happened very quickly. His mother has been battling cancer for a long time. She was on a trip to her home country to visit family and friends, and then her health deteriorated fast. Her sister brought her to the hospital, and she passed away.
My boyfriend and his family just flew in to their country overnight to settle matters. It is unclear when they will come back. He is heartbroken and can’t stop crying every minute passing. He has a very close family bond especially to his mother.
What can I do to support him from afar?

People react to death and loss in unique ways, so no one here is going to be able to give an exact how-to guide for him. Safest bet is to just listen to whatever he has to say and give him space if he needs it.
Just support him. Let him have his space when he needs it. He has a long road ahead of him unfortunately. However, just keep hope alive and keep things on the bright side. It sucks now, but there will be a day where it doesn’t anymore, or at least it’ll hurt a lot less than it does now. I’m sorry he is going through this. You’re an awesome gf for supporting him and trying to make life better so he isn’t is as much pain.
Let him know you’re there for him, ready to listen when he’s ready to talk. Healing takes time, love, and patience. Your patience.
