How can someone who isn’t a woman better recognize and understand the role misogyny might be playing in a given situation?

Any intelligent person can recognise mysogyny.
They need to deconstruct patriarchy so they start to see it. Anyone who benefits from a system is often blind to its actions unless they are actively working on unlearning it. Read bell hooks.
Reading feminist literature, or women’s history from women’s perspectives; if you’ve got a local book shop there might be a small section dedicated to these kinds of works, or you could have a worker help you find some. Browse through a couple and see what interests you. If you’re not a reader, maybe documentaries.
If you’re talking about in the moment, I find it helps to deconstruct why I feel a certain way. Why does this thing make me uncomfortable? Is my discomfort an automatic response? Why do I respond that way? If it took place in a different context, would I still be uncomfortable? Is my discomfort a result of my social conditioning? Why is it socially common? Where does it this stereotype stem from/what’s the history behind it? Who benefits from it? Who perpetuates it? etc etc.
