    That has many answers depending on the mental illness in question!

    Personally, I tend to more so notice when when an individual has an inability to let go of the past or rationalize in the moment. I have this friend who cannot understand the logical reasoning behind why their ex boyfriend wouldn’t want to suddenly speak to them after three years of silence stemming from a ROUGH breakup. The boyfriend has long since moved on, my friend has not, I tell them the logic, they say “but maybe” and on and on. You can add it to your repertoire of identifiers if you’d like!
