This question has been on my mind lately, especially now that I’m pursuing a university degree after finishing high school. Like many students, I wasn’t entirely sure what career path to choose. And yes, with the internet you can explore anything — you can research, read, and watch videos about any field. But even then, it’s not always helpful. Sometimes the internet feels more like a puzzle: you get pieces of information, but without knowing how they fit together, it’s hard to see the full picture.
Now that I’m actually in my degree program (mechanical engineering), I’ve been able to try out different areas of the field. So far, I’ve found that I’m especially drawn to dynamics. But even within that, I’m still unsure: Should I focus on control theory? Robotics? Maybe both? Or should I consider something more industrial, even if it’s less directly related to what I’m enjoying right now?
So my real question is: How do you know what path to take? How do you know when something truly clicks for you — not just in theory or curiosity, but in a way that’s worth building a career around?
