How did you get over the fact that your parent watch porn? I (21F) found my dad’s (58M) porn.

r/

I’m currently living with my parents. My dad feels more uncomfortable nowadays because of the fact that he watches porns often. As far as I can remember(the earliest memory is when I was 6years old), he’s been watching porns as a hobby and it was easy to find out because he doesn’t erase his internet history. In hindsight, my dad has been a bit addicted to the internet. I know that it’s not my business but I feel uncomfortable when I talk to him. It’s really important for me to wind down and relax at home but it’s often uncomfortable to be with my parents who’re often stressed and sometimes remind me of bad memories from the past. I realized that it’s not possible to change them although it’s for their own good. Most of the time, people don’t want to change and I understand that. However, because they’re my parents, it’s not easy to focus on what I can control especially when I feel often stressed about the exams.. When I’m outside, I feel empty and loneliness much more when I have issues with my parents. What can I do to improve my mental health? Could you give me some insights? Thank you so much for reading.

Parents don’t stop being humans because they become parents. They still like what they like. Has nothing to do with you and no one needs to change. Mind your own business.
Edit: to answer your original question: get over it.

Well, the only way is trying to move out honestly, and addiction can’t always be helped, especially a porn addiction. Your parents want their own privacy too, and with you there, I’m sure it could get things a little weird for them if they were to try to get freaky but you’re around. If your dad’s porn addiction bothers you well, u can’t do much about it, as long as it is not the weird kind or inappropriate kind given the fact that he has a daughter, and doesn’t try anything inappropriate with you, you should be fine. They are their own person, and have needs too.

He’s a human being, big surprise I know.

You don’t have to deal with it. You need to mind your own business.

You’re 21 which means you’re beyond lucky that your parents are housing you (I’m guessing for free or almost free).

Why do you let this affect your mental health?  Focus on school and your own social life, not what your parents do.

He is an adult and he can do what he wants with his computer. None of your business.

You will have sexual needs too when you are his age and he will have no say about how you choose to meet those needs.

Unless his watching it in front of you, you should just let it be. Maybe change the settings to stop the snooping that’s effecting you.
