How do I not let my family’s opinions affect my relationship?

r/

I (22f) just went on holiday with my family and my boyfriend of around six months. After we got back, my mum said “he’s nice but there’s just something off about him.” My sister also alludes to not liking him but when I ask she just says “he’s alright.” In my eyes, he really has no major red flags but I am also so receptive to people’s opinions, especially my family’s. We do bicker a lot but that’s just how we tease each other. All of my friends like him but I don’t know how to move past my family’s opinions without internalizing them.

TL;DR: After going on holiday, my family made some negative remarks about my bf. How do I move past them?

Were you bickering a lot in front of your family on the trip? Because that might be giving them a bad impression of his and your dynamic.

If your family normally has helpful opinions, I would pay attention. If they are frequently off the wall, you can ignore them.
