Hi. I have PCOS and after being on the pill for about 7 years straight, my doctor has recommended I take a break as I have been dealing with side effects. With this being said, I should use this time to see my body cycles correctly on its own as I have had issues with it prior. Out of the 14 years I’ve had my period I can only think one six month span where my period was regular no on birth control.
With this being said, she said I should take ovulation tests, one to check for ovulation, but two family planning.
How exactly do I use the strips? Like when in my cycle? Should I keep them for comparisons? The box says take them in the evening. I just want to make sure I do everything right. TIA!

Back when I was TTC, I used these. The specifics may vary by brand, but the gist is to use them daily starting at about day 10 in your cycle. If I remember correctly, the lines will get darker and darker until they hit a max point, and most people ovulate within 24 hours.
You may have to experiment with them to see what works best for you. I never once got a positive result until the month I actually got pregnant, and that month I tested literally every pee for nearly a week. I had one single positive result in that whole time (I believe with mine, the test line needed to be as dark or darker than the control line to be considered positive) and felt ovulation happen maybe an hour later. With PCOS and weird cycles, you may want to do this route at some point because who knows if once a day will really pick up the hormone fluctuations fully.
