if you don’t want to hand wash, use lingerie bags when you do a load of laundry. They’re fine mesh bags you toss delicates in (bras, lacy underwear, etc.) so they won’t snag or get tangled in the washer.
Damage is inevitable, even with the best quality hose.
But putting them in a mesh delicates bag on the mildest cycle in a washer works.
Also, more time-consuming and labor intensive, but get gloved up, fill a bowl with warm water and a sudsy soap (decent quality dish soap is okay but you might want to add a small spoon of softening pellets).
Swish, swish, swish. A lot. Create a froth. Squeeze. Lots of percolating. Do this and set a timer for 10-15 minutes. It’s okay if you take breaks but have a pretty frequent swish for that time period.

Before I got a delicate bag, I used pillow cases.
Use lingerie bag and hang them to dry. The dryer can significantly shorten the lifespan of elastics.
You mean your panty hose don’t rip every time you use them?? 😭😭 i must be doing something wrong

Lingerie bags and cold wash. Another option is hand wash, but I it’s easier to just put them in the washer.
I find that lukewarm water and dawn powerwash dishsoap. I let them soak, occasionally balling them up and squeezing them like a sponge.
Once I’m done washing, I squeeze them out, ball them up, and toss them in the dryer for a no heat cycle.
It works the majority of the time, but every once in a while, they get destroyed
Garmet bag or handwash.
Dunk, squish, pull. Dunk, sqish, pull. Repeat 3 to 4 times, then rinse, dunk, squish, pull, 2 to 3 times, then hang them to dry.
I did ballet for years – I would just shampoo them while I showered and hang them to dry.
I hand wash mine in cold water with a little mild soap. Then I hang them to dry. No wringing, no dryer.
Buying GOOD quality ones for a start, that don’t rip super easy.
Hand wash.
Air dry.

Then rinse. Rinse well. Then hang dry.
I literally threw the entire concept of wearing hose or tights into the trash with my last pair in 1994.
Delicates bag or just hand wash them (they are so quick to hand wash it’s the easiest way).
