Your dog can be your soul mate so no guy or girl should be number1 unless you both bought the dog together. Then the dog is number 2. The male human is usually the alpha and must show this in interactions with the dog. Not the girlfriend or boyfriend. Humans are equal and should be only separated by what they do.
This is something only you can answer. What causes one to fall inlove doesn’t mean thst same thing will work for you. It’s also something that just answers itself. If you have to question it then it’s not love. With that said, for me, when I wake up and they are my first though or just the sound of their name making you just smile. You stare into their eyes and just melt. Been with my wife for 19years and she still makes me feel this way.
When you are willing to sacrifice your own well being for hers. Putting her before yourself, be it taking extra shifts so they have the money to take her out nice places, staying up late past their normal sleep schedule, purposefully breaking bad habits or forming better ones to better themselves for her.
