Like you’re trying to learn a new skill… you are putting in hours…not seeing results.
You are trying to level up your career…but no matter how hard you push… it doesn’t feel like you are making progress.
You’re trying to quit a bad habit, but every few days… you relapse.
Let me give one example… I have been playing guitar for years… and there are certain songs…that no matter how hard I have practiced them… I still cannot play them at the full speed of the song.
It’s not my career by any means…but I hoped I would have been a better guitarist by now… and I am 34. There are teenagers who play better than I.
It’s so hard to keep trying in life, when it feels like the door keeps shutting… or like there are shackles on your ankles…

The only person whom you should be comparing to, is yourself. Take slow steps. Progress will come.
There’s a couple good answers for this, I think.
One is that the more you know about something, the more you realize you don’t know, and the subject is bigger than you used to think.
The other is, if I can’t get any measurable improvements, I look for a different way to attack the problem. For example, take lessons, or take lessons from a different instructor.
Something like playing guitar is hard to measure how good you are at it. And tbh, I’m more than a decade older than you are, and I play too. I assure you that you’re a better player than I am. 🙂 I play for my own entertainment, though, and don’t measure against anyone else, because the metric I’m using is “am I enjoying doing this?” rather than how good I am at it. Golf is another example, but that’s a much more measurable thing. And there’s not many things that I genuinely suck at but do anyway, because they’re fun, but golf and guitar are close to the top of my lists! 🙂
Learning guitar is (like many other skills) much easier to learn when you are a young child. Though toxic positive people will tell you you can learn anything at any age, it’s just not true. Fluid intelligence begins declining in the mid 20’s to early 30’s
