I constantly wake up with huge patches of blood on my bedsheets. I prefer to use pads and I’m extremely afraid of tampons/cups ☠️. What tips does everyone have?

Honestly, pads will do that to you. What makes other options so scary to you? Discs changed my life I will never go back
So I am predominantly a tampon user so my advice might not be super useful. On my heaviest days (1 and 2), I set an alarm for around 3/4 hours after I go to bed, so that I can change my tampon before it has a chance to leak.
I would say you could do the same, set an alarm and change your pads more regularly in the night?
Always Overnight pads (the huge ten hour pads). I bleed like a crazy person, these pads are amazing and the only ones I’ve ever found that last all night.
Put a big towel down, folded in half.
Period underwear that you wash is amazing. I had to try a few brands for the one I like best, but now that I have found that brand I have a ton of pairs I can use depending on how heavy my period is. The “super” overnight ones hold 50ml of liquid – 10 tampons worth supposedly. I’ve never had a leak since using them. The underwear is snug and doesn’t move like a pad would. I’ve had them for years now and they are still holding up great, would recommend the investment!
I have slept on towels so I didn’t have to worry about stating the bed if something did slip.
That said, a fear of tampons and cups doesn’t sound very healthy. You’re under no obligation to use them, but fear shouldn’t be the thing driving that choice. Have past attempts caused pain?
On my heavy days I use a cup and a pantiliner overnight.
Disposable underwear.
Always makes some but you can just buy depends and they’ll do the same thing.
When I predominantly wore pads, I would sleep in bike shorts to help keep the pad from shifting as much while I was asleep. I also found I had to place the pad slightly farther back than I would when I was awake/upright (that’s probably different for everyone though).
You could try period underwear if it’s simply that your flow is too heavy to be contained by 1 pad all night. They can absorb a lot more.
Poise pads. They’re so thick and can handle my heavy flow days. They’re also very long.
I used to use a tampon + a pad. Having dealt with postpartum bleeding, I would 100% go with adult diapers or huge, shaped postpartum pads if my periods were the same as in my teens & early 20s (but they are greatly reduced thanks to an IUD).
I wear adult diapers during the first 2-3 days of my period 🤷🏽♀️ I was also so tired of staining my bed and I prefer using pads. Before the diapers, I would lay a towel on my bed, but the towel would be displaced by the time I woke up.
Crib mats.
I will use a tampon, overnight pad, and then wear a pair of biker shorts or similar over the underwear to keep the pad in place. I always found it leaked in looser shorts or pajamas.
Disposable underwear, like the kind for incontinence. I got tired of ruining sheets and mattress pads and underwear. No size of pad was big enough to contain my heavy periods on the first couple of days each month, when lying down, and the underwear stopped me from having leaks.
You’ll probably want to keep some wet wipes in the bathroom for when you remove the underwear in the morning though, as the flow can kind of get smeared around a bit on your butt cheeks, but I slept better knowing I wasn’t leaking all over the place.
Period underwear, better pads or both
I fashion an adult diaper out of the biggest overnight page I can find. It’s surprisingly comfortable.
Two pads at once. Not on top of each other but one starting basically where the pubic hair begins and then slightly underlapping the other pad so they overlap and that one covers most of the way to the end of the buttcrack, which is where I typically find the most leaking happens
I use a towel for the first heavier days, then I use period underwear – game changer!!!
Just throwing this out there – an IUD can significantly lessen our stop your period. I used to have this same problem and now thanks to IUDs I haven’t had a period in 10 years.✨️ My mom says “its like you’re cheating at womanhood.” 😂
You already got plenty of tips, but may I ask why you’re afraid of tampons?
