I feel like I’ve developed this “version” of myself that I present to others, and now I don’t know how to turn it off. Even around people I trust. It’s exhausting. I’m not trying to be fake but the way I act seems a little forced, like a bad actor almost. How do you become/feel more natural?
How do you stop performing your personality and just be?

I can’t say for sure, but this sounds like something one of my friends dealt with early in her life. She wasn’t really able to sort it out until she got counseling. This may be something you might want to look to a professional for advice. it’s something that may take some help to “unlearn”
I’d say it ultimately depends on the situation. Just because you ‘trust’ someone doesn’t mean you can/feel comfortable enough to ‘trust’ them with everything (if that makes sense). Its also possible that you keep it on because you’re afraid that you might ‘slip’ to the ‘wrong’ person.
I thought this was normal.
