In the English versions of the Dreamworks movies, he has a thick accent and some quirks, like not using contractions when a native speaker would or translating idioms literally (‘he has the face of a Jeff’ rather than ‘he looks like a Jeff’). This makes sense, we know that Cat is his second language so I’ve always assumed his first language is Spanish and he’s speaking in his third language, English, as the lingua franca of the places he’s been adventuring.
Is any of this maintained in the dubs, or is all this lost?

He speaks in a Spanish accent from Spain and is voiced by the same voice actor as in English, Antonio Banderas.
Iirc, he speaks with a Spanish accent in the Portuguese dub with some Portuñol sprinkled in for good measure (but not full-on Portuñol)
For the Spanish versions Antonio Banderas did the dubs, so he sounds the same in both (meaning, the dubbing used in both versions is the same).
In both versions he speaks distinctively from the other characters because of the accent. For Latin American viewers, if you don’t know the difference between Spanish accents (which is very common if you’re a child) he just sounds Spanish. In the Spanish version, he uses a regional accent different from the one used by the other characters, who use a more ‘standard’ accent.
He still has those quirks because of the accent he is using, like omitting the S at the end of the words (which is common in a lot of accents but we’re talking about dubs that try to keep it as neutral as possible, with a few exceptions) or using words that would not be used by the other characters.
In the Latin American dub we also have Donkey who uses a lot of Mexican slang and to me it’s way funnier than the English version. They let the actor do a lot of ad lib so it ends up being like the Genie in Aladdin.
