How much does clear skin contribute to attractiveness?

r/

People put a lot of effort into skincare. Does it actually change how a person is percieved by others?

Edit:- By clear skin, I mean skin that has a healthy sheen or glow to it, and by not having clear skin, I mean skin that looks dull or lacks that natural radiance

Depends on what you mean. If your face is covered in acne than yeah that affects how people perceive you. But you don’t need crystal clear skin with blemishes to be attractive.

Depends. If I really like someone, I don’t think acne or not enough skin care will make them unattractive to me, but might change very attractive to less attractive. But everyone judges it differently.

When I was younger not at all, teens get acne. As an adult, it can take away from overall attraction if someone in my age range has bad skin

Non-clear skin wouldn’t exist if people only ever had sex with people with clear skin.

The reality is acne does affect appearance. But is depends on if the person is putting effort to try and take care of their skin and such.

Though I speak from a place of privilege, I’ve never struggled through having acne.

Surprisingly a lot. I knew a girl in hs who did it on break and on the next year she went from under-average to cute. It depends what your “clearing” too, like with acne it won’t make a huge difference but that girls skintone was really uneven and dull so evening it out made a huge difference.

It’s a pop cultural thing in many cases to do skincare.

But clean skin is always nice 🙂

When I put a moisturizer on I get approached a lot more, much to my displeasure

So I will say, skin care makes an impact. Having a glowing sheen makes people notice you more.

A very important factor to consider, is that people with acne generally have reduced self confidence. Good confidence can itself be attractive and someone may be nice looking, but have acne and have low self esteem as a result. This would make them less attractive, because they aren’t ‘beaming’ or ‘radiating’ that positive attractive energy. So the ‘viewer’ will read not only their appearance but also their energy as an overall package.

it depends but it probably doesn’t play a major role. maybe 5%

I think having clear skin is a small plus but if you have unattractive features, having kpop star skin will not save you, and if you have a pretty face even severe acne won’t change that.

It’s matters a lot but most skincare does f*ck all.

It definitely helps. I’m not the best looking but my clear complexion is one of the main compliments I get. I don’t need much makeup because of it. Still, there are some women who are super pretty despite the state of her skin.

For me it’s no big deal if a man doesn’t have clear smooth skin. It’s not even a concern.
