I’m intrigued to know what the range is. I personally watch an hour or so every 2-3 days, but my partner likes to watch several hours per day. Intrigued to know what is normal!
(Yes, I know that nothing is normal)

1-2 hours a day
terrestrial tv? Maybe an hour or two a week.
If you count film and series streaming, maybe an hour a day?
Just watch Twitch streamers reacting to YouTubers watching Gogglebox and you could probably cut that time in half
It varies depending on what I’m watching, how busy I am and if I’m prioritising reading/listening to stuff instead but probably average 1-2 hours a day – including some TV on my phone while I’m doing something else (e.g. cooking or commuting)
I have the tv on for probably like 3-4 hours in the evening during the week. More like 6-7 hours most weekends. I’m probably only paying full attention like 50% of the time though. I’ll usually have a football match or some kind of YT ‘podcast’ playing whilst i’m on the laptop.
Almost all my tv viewing at the moment is either football or YouTube. I don’t really have any tv series that i’m interested in right now. If I do then you can easily add on a couple of hours a day.
If there is any snooker or tennis on the TV I will be watching it all day, if not about 2 hours in the evening.
Terrestrial tv – zero. Streaming on netflix/disney+/youtube probably about 3 hours a week.
All of it, all of the time.
If I’m not watching it I’m recording it and if I’m not doing it either, I’m ramming it up my arse.
Does streaming stuff count? Because my answers will be vastly different depending
My arse has ‘caution flammable do dot machine wash’ imprinted onto it as a result of a nice steady 13 hours a day on the sofa channel flicking.
Maybe an hour or two a week.
Hardly any. We have no streaming services or even a real TV in the house. If I watch anything I’ll be online on my laptop & usually YouTube or a free catch up service. I prefer audiobooks
Mrs tmstms watches Escape To The Country and we watch Emmerdale, News At Ten on ITV and the Sky News Press Preview most days, so that is two hours.
Most days we probably watch either the lunchtime news and/or the dinnertime news, so that’s say 3 hrs a day.
I second screen a lot though.
zero. i dont watch it. but im a youtube fiend so im no better.
A show a year. Maybe two. Sometimes none. Short one-offs. Like, 8 episodes and I’m done.
If I think a show looks interesting, I watch that show.
I just watched Severance.
I can’t remember the show before that I watched. ‘Say Nothing’, I think.
I am happier gaming, coding, being at the gym or just doing other stuff. TV feels passive and I just have no interest in most of it.
Live: literally just sport. League and international football, some rugby, the grand tours and Olympics.
Streaming: probably averages about 2-3h a day.
2-3 hours a week
Normally a film or couple of episodes of a series every couple of days. Then just the Formula 1 whenever that’s on.
Maybe 3-4 hours on a week day. 6-14 hours on a weekend depending on if I’m staying at home or going out.
My tv is on from 6am-10pm. I need background noise. Often, I’ll have 2 tvs on, and something is usually playing on my phone.
How much do I watch? absolutely none of it on a day to day basis. I did watch something on s4c 2 weeks ago, as my kid was in the audience of a show, and she was embarrassed at the camera panning to her face, lol.
None, really. I probably watched 6 hours last year – which was 1 series that I watched. That was streamed. I haven’t watched terrestrial tv in I dont know how many years. 5 or 6 most likely.
I do have a tv but it’s used for playing video games.
I also watch you tube, but that’s usually on my phone.
Entirely dependent on travelling/communting time. Probably average 15-20 minutes per day unless I’m reading a book.
Never watch TV etc at home, why would you!
Generally watch telly every night, if I’m at home, for an hour or two. I prefer to listen to records, but I like watching television with my wife because we enjoy laughing at things together.
I’ve found myself watching more YouTube these days
Mostly just sports and the odd documentary. Sometimes, I put news/music on for background noise.
None, I do watch YouTube videos, but not the type trying to mimic TV shows
usually there’s something on my TV (or phone or laptop on catchup) 4-5 hours minimum in the evenings.
I often watch something on youtube whilst cooking.
Weekends, if I’m at home, could be anywhere from 7-14 hours. Even if I’m on the pc I’ll have something on for background noise. – usually a mix of terrestrial, catch up, streaming and youtube.
I use my TV to watch … YouTube
Watch tv regularly in the evening, but it’s programmes that I have recorded or something specific that I stream . I don’t bother with channel surfing.
Almost never. The bulk of my TV watching is on Facebook Watch, which is currently a rotation of The Middle, Young Sheldon, Mind Your Language, Waterloo Road and Gogglebox Australia. Somehow it’s all more enjoyable than anything I try to find on TV proper.
1-2 hours a day max.
Depends how strict you’re being on ‘TV’.
Do you just mean, ‘Turn on Sky and watch what’s live right now?’ or are you including YouTube, Twitch, Disney/Netflix streaming?
