I’m quite certain it’s illegal to not move aside when an emergency vehicle has its lights and sirens on. (PA here)
I have seen either in videos or in person some knucklehead drivers that just sit there rather than pulling to one side or the other for the officer, ambulance, or fire to get by.
How often does this happen? As a bystander, it makes me lose my mind for the public not doing something so basic.

Almost every single time going code somewhere. Problem is we have to get to the call and cant deal with dumb fuck at that time
Frequently enough to be irritating. Worse than the people that don’t yield is the person that panics and just slams the brakes to a dead stop in the middle of the road.
What I will never understand is how drivers will damn near wreck their cars in their panic to get to the shoulder for a fire truck a half mile away going the opposite direction on an empty eight lane road but a cop can sit behind them with siren screaming for blocks before they casaually take their time moving over.
Every. Single. Time. The. Lights. Come. On.
“Oh blue lights, let me come to a complete stop in my lane instead of moving over.”
Every. Single. Time. Honestly, it’s one of the worst parts about working day shift.
Night shift? There’s so few people on the road already, and the lights can be seen from a mile away, it’s so much easier to get someplace in a hurry.
All the time. It got worse when the "pull over when you feel safe" bullshit started popping up everywhere.
I was in Ft. Wayne, Indiana six months ago and a Police car heading east with lights on hit an intersection at the same time as a fire truck heading south. I sat there trying to figure out how this was going to work out.
I’m assuming they were in contact with one another because the police officer slowed down enough for the fire truck to do the typical slow and go.
And they both continued on their separate paths.
Pretty often. I think most panic or aren’t paying attention.
Constantly. It’s actually more of a surprise to see people acknowledging the lights and sirens quickly than it is to be behind someone for a mile without them moving. I get it, though – it’s rude of me to interrupt both their Netflix show and their group chat while they’re driving.
All the damn time, tbey don’t pull over but these same people will stop in the road and not move
All the time and honestly it’s the elderly I’ve noticed don’t see or hear us. Also when people do decide to try and move over or stop in a lane, they do it in the worst spots like blind curves or right before a hill so I can’t see if other vehicle are coming from the opposite direction
The moment you start rolling code, everyone starts driving like a perfect citizen lol.
Every single time.
Couple of times. It irritates me. Blue lights and siren means pull to the side, not stop in the middle of the road.
Last week, I was running a code and this clueless female driver decided to stop in the middle of the road, blocking my left hand turn to the road I need to get to. She had the audacity to ask me if the light and siren is for her. Got on my PA and told her to get the fuck out of the way.
Every time I go code there’s always a few that don’t pull over
Every time you turn the lights on.
I’ve accepted if I get seriously injured in the city I work in and need time sensitive care I will probably die.
If you ever want to lose faith in humanity, drive an emergency vehicle. Morons, everywhere!
All the fucking time.
