I use shampoo in my hair maybe 3-4 times per week. Growing up it was always daily. Now I’ve seen some stuff that says you should aim for 1-2 times per week.
I’m curious to know what others are doing. Literally just curious. There’s way more important shit to worry about than this 🙂

Every other day now because I use Minoxidil to prevent it from falling out
Every single time i take a shower.
Head, back, or balls?
Every other shower pretty much.
Every 2-3 days. Washing too often can dry out your scalp, too infrequently and you’re a greasy mess. Find the balance that works for you…
Everyday.
I rinse it every time, but only shampoo about 2-3 times a week tops. I’ve got dry skin and it gets really bad if I do it more often (which I did when I was younger).
When I didn’t use hair gel it was 2-3x a week. Now that I put gel in my hair it’s every day
Once a week. I have curly hair. On Saturday or Sunday, I shampoo, condition, detangle, style it, and it stays that way all week. Sometimes I might refresh with water and leave in conditioner on day 4.
Shampoo every other day, conditioner “every other other” day.
Maybe 2 times a week.
I was washing my hair every shower, but I was showering every 2-4 days.
Now that I go to the gym, I still do it every time so 4-5 times a week, even though I try to just wash with water sometimes. (not just pour water, but also rub so it washes a maximum without shampoo)
About 2x a week
Every night. I shower every night
Y’all have hair?
I rinse daily and cleanse as needed. I am nearly bald with fuzz on my head lol. For most people using shampoo daily is too harsh over time for the scalp tbh. Everyone is different based on their hairs texture, and length, as well as many factors to their daily life. Such as lifestyle and geographic location.
I wash it everyday when I’m showering but I don’t use shampoo I just the bar soap I use on my body.
Each time I shower, always before bed. Clean sheets and pillows are a must.
i have medium length hair and put sea salt spray and essential oils in it the days of shampooing. as a kid it was daily but now I shampoo and condition twice a week and my hair and reduced shower time has thanked me for it
Everyday, as I am taking a shower everyday before I sleep.
Once or twice a month with shampoo, 2-3 with conditioner. Thick, curly, down to around mid shoulder blade in length. People always compliment my hair and then act shocked when I tell them my secret is just not washing it constantly
To answer your question, I take a shower every day & wash my hair when I do. I use conditioner every other day.
To add some context, I’m white (high percentage Scottish & British ancestry) and almost 50. My hair still grows in thick and quickly with no signs of hair loss. But, I think that has a lot to do with genetics, not with my washing routine.
Every day.
White privilege
1-2x every 1.5 weeks or so but depends on what I have done and how much product I have used. I condition it at least every 2 showers.
I have very, very, very long curly hair though and I shoot guns about once a week. If I didn’t shoot I might wash on the lower end of that range. I still condition and detangle though. And will often use a scalp scrubber in the shower which would help get at any build up.
Edit: when I say wash, I specifically mean with shampoo. I still wet and rinse my hair with water damn near every shower unless I’m going to bed right after.
I believe short hair is fine once a day. The longer your hair is the harder it is for the natural oils to reach the tips.
I’ve been growing my hair out for the first time and it has changed my routine quite a bit. Now it’s light shampoo and a lot of conditioner every 2-3 days. Clarifying shampoo about twice a month. Daily rinse and detangle with a comb in the shower.Â
I shower twice a day. In the morning when I wake up, and at night before going to bed. Wash hair each time.
Once a week.
I have curly hair.
Shower every day, shampoo every other day.
Once a week with shampoo, 3-4 times with conditioner.
Once a week.
Barber got me to the point I had really healthy hair. Better to do it once a week with shampoo and conditioner. I also moisturize it everyday and use some oil once or twice a week as needed.
Everyday! But I use a mild shampoo that’s specifically for daily use.
I wash my hair every day. I couldn’t imagine not washing it every day since it gets dirty at work
Everyday. I rotate three shampoos. Two of them are anti-fungal, the other is a keratin shampoo. I need this because I have some scalp conditon that makes it permanently scaly and itchy.
Daily. 56 yo and my hair is doing fine.
I get dandruff if I don’t wash with Head and Shoulders regularly, usually 4-5 times a week minimumÂ
Every day. And sometimes twice if I use product in my hair. People who don’t wash their hair baffle me. I can’t stand the oily feeling.
Once a day. Usually in the morning. If I know that I have plans in the evening, then I won’t shampoo in the morning and will in the evening
I think the last time was about twenty years ago, back when I had it.
Daily. I get dandruff if I don’t.
Daily because it becomes greasy quite fast.
59 year old. Since allowing my hair to grow long during the pandemic, I started ‘co-washing’ my hair after exercising: that is, using conditioner to get the dirt out without stripping out oils. I use shampoo about twice a week (because I tend towards oily hair and ‘dry-wash’ shampoos tend to just turn into starchy mud). But I ‘co-wash’ daily after my daily exercise routine.
Daily with premium bar soap.
Every two days. The normal around these parts of the world to take a shower.
Every 2-3 days
Daily because of my job. If i had an office job maybe every other day. A lot of it depends how active i am.
Every morning.. With my daily shower
Yall are washing your hair too much. That’s why it gets oily so fast and that why you most likely have dandruff. I used to wash daily too but now I wash twice a week with shampoo and if I do feel the need to wash it in between I use dry shampoo or just do a conditioner wash. Every couple weeks I will use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of any product buildup.
Every two weeks or so. Other than that, rinse and run my fingers through it when I pull my beard, so it has a very, very light oiling.
I use regular soap, my head is shaved.
Water and a little bit of soap and the same one that I wash my balls with some industrial detergent bar soap I get from the hardware store, which is somehow, nicer to the skin (just smells terrible but isn’t as harsh and fully biodegradable, basically same shit as fancy bio soaps), so I can use in a river or stream sometimes when im hiking to wash myself.
So whenever I take a shower.
No shampoo, I sometimes put anti bacterial/fungal medicine.
I get dry crackly skin and dandruff, and sometimes it gets really itchy, so if I use something too harsh I make it worse instead of better, so the medicine and the soft soap are the best, the hardware store stuff has been wonders, I have one soap that even has sand, it’s great, but I don’t wash my hair with that one.
Once a week. I keep my hair at a third of an inch, so more than that isn’t needed.
I’m bald, but wash my beard about every other day.
Water every day, shampoo every other.
I shave my head.
I wash my beard every time I shower using my regular body wash. Every other day I was my beard using a beard wash and oil my beard.
Every day. I don’t ever want to smell bad.
