I’m 27. I have never like had a problem with alcohol at all, I’m an Ivy league educated banker that lives in Manhattan trying to scratch out a living. I don’t drink by myself or on weeknights but I still go out with friends like every weekend pretty much.
I’m just now getting to the age where, if I get kind of drunk like 4+ drinks, the next day I am basically dead. Like can’t get off the couch dead. In college when I was 19-22 I can remember going out and drinking 12 drinks and waking up taking 2 Advil, Gatorade coffee and going to class.
So I guess what I’m asking is, do the hangovers just increase linearly with age, or does it plateau off? If it doesn’t plateau off I have absolutely no idea how anyone over the age of 40 including my father even drinks.

Way over-thinking this entire situation
25, none. I’ll only drink like a single glass on a holiday or something if family offers a drink.
But I don’t really like the flavor, and getting drunk holds 0 appeal to me. So only something I’d ever consider doing to be polite
Late 30s , zero alcohol.
I can drink 2, maybe 3 drinks. But that’s my limit.
In my 20s I could drink bottles & be ok. Age is a MF.
I’ve always sort of self-regulated with alcohol. When I get a bit of a buzz I stop entirely or slow down until the buzz goes away before drinking again. Basically my goal is to never have a hangover because I hate them with a passion.
Edit: Oh and I’m mid 30s.
24m. I drink 2 tall boys when I go fishing, sometimes 2x a week sometimes once every 3 weeks. I’ll have wine at a family dinner or champagne at a wedding. But it’s not in my day to day life. Now 18-21 I was drinking way. To. Fucking. Much. I’m thankful I found my way early on.
36m. Some weeks one or two beers. Other weeks I’ll have 20 beers on a Friday night
40 here
I never drink during the week. It’s something that I save for the weekend. I feel like it would lose it’s appeal if I was just drinking on weekdays after work.
I’ll usually have a few drinks on Saturdays nights. Maybe a few strong rum ‘n cokes and a beer or two. Usually just sipping over several hours and getting a light buzz on. Either by myself, or with a friend or two.
Sometimes a few weeks will go by where I don’t drink at all though. And on the flip side sometimes it might be a bit more often like if I’m on vacation… like on hot summer days or around the Christmas holidays, etc.
But those occasional times where I DO drink a lot in one go… I’m perfectly fine the next day. I’ve only ever had a few hangovers in my life and they weren’t even really that bad tbh.
Mid thirties. I have a couple drinks on the weekends. Usually. With friends or while out and about. I can still party. Close down the bar even. I usually feel pretty shitty the next day. Not to the point where I can’t get off the couch or it lasts for days afterwards. But enough that it keeps me from doing it often.
Zero, haven’t drank in like 8 years. Rather just smoke by a mile.
26 years old. I haven’t had a drink in almost a year. I only do it to catch a buzz when I am with people. Whenever I do drink, it’s like 2-3 drinks. Hard liquor.
40 and don’t drink. It’s not worth it.
30 & none, i do smoke though
Mid 30’s. Bottle of bourbon so far this week and working on #2. Lonely hotel work trip. No hangover issues.
Happy life. Not actually a drunk.
Provided you aren’t susceptible to addiction the news is good in that you start to work towards regulation of your consumption.
I’m 57 and really enjoy alcohol, especially things like cocktails. But jeez I have just had enough of getting smacked around the day after a big go at it. That forces itself into your consciousness when you are out drinking and you end up just switching off. Now a big night for me is a beer and 1 or 2 glasses of wine, literally because I don’t want to be wrecked the next day.
Late 20s. I’d say 4-10 drinks a week, the latter when I’m drinking socially, the former just throughout the week (beer or a glass of wine here and there).
I drank a couple of glasses of wine the other night and woke up with a pounding headaches in the middle of the night. That really didn’t happen previously. I think age definitely makes it worse! But Advil, and liquid IV still helps a ton.
27 yr old I only drink on special occasions like birthdays, weddings, or when I’m traveling. I hate the feeling of being hungover and it takes a day or two for me to recover so I never get to that point. If I do drink I try to stick to one type of alcohol. Also electrolyte packets comes in clutch before a night of drinking.
