F1 is huge in The Netherlands since Verstappen participates.
That’s about the only motorsport people care about
Speedway in Poland. For sure in the past. Not sure how it looks right now.
Very popular, F1 and WRC, there are also plenty of motocross people and other smaller motorsport fans too.
Only competitions that are more popular would be hockey and eurovision, or at least that’s what I can think of on top of my head.
In the UK F1 rules supreme. Large following with many successful drivers past and prsent. Speedway has its niche following like other sports athough not in the top 10 I’d say. Rally had Colin McRae (RIP) although again: not a super mainstream sport. Motocross also exists, although for motorcycles the big thing is the isle of man, I’d say thats pretty well known though
Barely popular at all. I got bullied in primary school for being interested in cars rather than football.
F1 is absolute king in Italy, because Ferrari. Basically on good period for Ferrari everybody is watching it, even casual people. It helps that most of the season is in the summer and doesn’t compete straight up with football.
MotoGP has also been historically quite popular with a massive boom in the early 2000 thanks to Valentino Rossi, who is afaik considered one of the best rider the sport has ever seen. Nowadays is less popular than when he was running, even though there many Italian racing teams and pilots – one of which, “Pecco” Bagnaia, won twice in a row the title.
I don’t think any other motorsport is very popular outside of those two.
Sports are only popular in Norway when Norwegians are good at it.
This means motorsport hasn’t been much on the radar.
Historically, rallycross was followed when a Norwegian (Martin Schanche) was ruling it. Rally has also been followed sometimes, there was a dude just a few years ago who was actually good.
But as a general rule, motorsport as of today is living a little in the valley of shadows. Of course, there are always some people. But not really that much.
In France none.
Some older people (over 80 years old) watch F1 a little.
But that’s all.
In UK very popular from F1 to rally, speedway, motorcycle road and track etc. British superbikes, British Touring cars….. Lots of local race circuits with regular events.
Finland, rally is popular and watching F1. Few big motorcycle races such as Imatra Ajo. Not much happens locally to me other than the few rallies.
There’s still many popular series, F1 for one ofc, and all sorts of saloon series. Then there’s motorbikes, Moto GP, truck racing, hillclimb events.
The broadcast of all these has been shifted to streaming, probably because of a political influence and dimming viewership; there were times DTM ran prime time on the main public channel, today maybe F1 will make the news,
Compared to the USA, drag racing is basically non existent, same with oval racing that’s not motorcycles.
