I’m really into this girl from work and we’ve been chatting pretty much everyday, and I feel such a strong connection with her. Her flirty texts, like those playful “hiiiiii :)” messages and heart emojis, plus how affectionate she gets when we’re alone, make me think she might like me too. But it’s frustrating because she’s still hung up on her ex, always bringing him up and sometimes tries to text him, even though she says she’s over him and doesn’t want him back. I’m dying to tell her how I feel, and I’m planning to open up during a late-night car ride, just to be real with her about how much I like her. But at the same time shes busy with soon finishing college so I feel a little guilty

I’m the ex in this exact situation. Just because she acts flirty with you unfortunately doesn’t always mean she likes you. She may just enjoy the attention you’re giving her while still fucking her ex. She may not have any intentions of changing this behaviour. It’s up to you to figure out how things really are. You can’t really do anything other than communicate how you feel. Things will be straightforward from then on. Even if she reciprocates the feelings you have for her, don’t take what she says at face value. Care about what she does rather than what she tells you because actions speak louder than words and many people lie to themselves to justify whatever shitty things they may be doing.
You’re overthinking it. Don’t worry about the ex. She is single and can do whatever she wants.
Graduating from college soon could certainly mean she doesn’t want to be in a relationship. Could but not necessarily. When I was graduating from undergrad, I was busy figuring out where I was going to go to law school and planning my move etc. Starting a new relationship wouldn’t have made sense. So just understand and don’t be weird and pushy if she isn’t in a place to want to have a boyfriend or date or whatever.
