Find the necessary and the can’t change, then change everything else to the way you want it
“If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right.”
You just have to want it.
For me it took another 5 years. At 25 I was delivering pizzas and had knots in my upper back and neck for seriously six months or a year worrying about my life being over and delivering pizzas at 65, living in a trailer somewhere on rented land.
I decided to take a Cisco networking test to try to switch jobs. Failed that by 1 point. Spun out into a depression and my girlfriend just suggested I try out community college. Scheduled an admission test to see what I could skip. Took trig, calc 1-3, differential equations, physics, etc. Transferred into a top-10 in the nation electrical engineering program at a state university in my city. Graduated with a 3.9. Went to an Ivy T14 law school. Married that girlfriend and I am still with her 20 years later, living the American dream.
That’s how it worked for me. But you have to be ready. I never got less than an A in anything related to my major. Prior to that I went to CC at 19 and had a 1.5 GPA. In high school I got a 50 semester average in pre-cal only because that was the lowest they could give me.
Only reason I succeeded the last time was because I finally felt like I had to and kept at it.
I would move to Ethiopia and start over.
Start by setting small, achievable goals, wake up at he same time, apply to one job, or study for 30 minutes a day. Build discipline gradually, and focus on consistency. Change happens when you stick to those little habits. Surround yourself with positive influences, cut distractions, and keep moving forward, no matter how slow.
Small consistent things add up set a routine and do it consistently then build off it. Do that and set backs are manageable.
I get up at same time every day and preform the same tasks which include lifting, Yoga and Walking. Then I move on to eating healthy and fasting 24 hours o week and 60 hours the next week then repeat so Monday and Monday Tuesday the next.
Then comes work which I both work from home and travel but follow a consistent routine regardless so that everything is done or moving to close each day.
I spend an hour each night reading then go to bed
I start my day at 5 am and go to bed around 10 pm 7 days a week
On weekends I substitute the work out for fishing/ fun or personal growth projects.
You have to want to make changes and sometimes that takes being punched in the mouth to get your priorities figured out. I know it did for me. I know I made my life significantly harder from a mistake 4 years ago, I’d be in such a better place if I figured my shit out before that. I don’t want to keep repeating the same failures and making the same mistakes, so I will do what’s necessary to not feel like that again. Make the goals, create a plan, stick to it
You’re going to think this is stupid. Just do something different. Like, literally right now. I’m serious. Just try it. Something you wouldn’t otherwise do. Lift a finger. Clap your hands. Do a jumping jack. Sing the Titanic theme song. Slap your face. Walk out the door. Anything. Anything is a choice.

I eat healthy food and get plenty of exercise but I smoke and it’s killing me , I came across this article and it seems to make a lot of sense
You yourself write that you have no discipline. Introduce rules and discipline into your life, it is important that these actions correspond to your path to your goals and dreams.
Small steps, just keep moving in the right direction. Dont stop
The best way I’ve heard it said is “what do you want now vs what do you want most”
Start building momentum through little tasks. Tidy up your space. Make a simple meal. These things seem innocuous but they’ll give you the sense of satisfaction that can lead toward bigger shit.
Get a job and’s don’t be a mooch loser
It’s difficult to do if you don’t have a reason to do it. Think about why you want to change, set goals and plan, then execute.
