How To Fight Dry Hair?

r/

Male, 30s, haven’t cut my hair in over 2 years and it’s about to my mid back now. I can feel it’s starting to get dry at the ends. Right now I only use a shea moisture black castor oil shampoo but not sure if I should switch or add a conditioner or both? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

add a conditioner and also you probably need to get it trimmed a bit because the ends will get fucked up over time

Yeah mate, if it’s mid-back and feeling dry at the ends, you definitely need conditioner. Shampoo alone (even a good one like Shea Moisture) just isn’t enough for that much length.

Get yourself a solid moisturizing conditioner — you don’t need anything fancy. Even something like OGX Argan Oil or Shea Moisture’s own conditioner will do the job.

    Also:

    • Use it every time you wash
    • Focus it on the mid-lengths to ends, not the scalp
    • Once or twice a week, try a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask

You don’t need to switch shampoo unless it’s making your scalp feel dry. But conditioner is non-negotiable once your hair’s this long. You’ll feel the difference within a week.
