My husband (M38) and I (F32) contracted to build a house. We have already put down around 10% and it is scheduled to be done and us to close on it the end of February.
When he was gone hunting with buddies on Labor Day, I accidentally found his Tinder profile and dozens of explicit messages and emails, including meetup plans at motels around us. He doesn’t know I know yet. I want to have a plan in place before I confront him.
How can I / we get out of the contract for the house? Is the 10% just lost?

A contract is just that, a contract. Read it and see what it says. Most will have a termination clause which probably reads something like you will forfeit XYZ. Some have penalties. It really is contract specific – you may be refunded up, but I’d expect at least losing the 10% down. But that potential monetary loss is the least of your worries unfortunately. Get your affairs in order and contact a divorce attorney. They’ll help you from there
