As a 18 year old graduating high school with no clear idea of a what I want to do for the future, I am completely and utterly terrified, people keep telling me to find something i’m passionate about, but I have no clue what exactly i’m passionate enough about to do it as a career?
How/When did you know what you wanna do with your life

Nothing and never. You do what people think you can do and for an amount of money that allows you to pursue actual dreams and passions
Hell, I’m 30 and I still don’t know
You aren’t alone. A lot of 18 year olds are figuring it out.
That is what college, going into the workforce or going into a trade is all about. Really give yourself some time to self reflect and figure out what you want to do with your life.
Im 26 and still dont know man…
I gave up on finding something I’m passionate about, since I tried so many things and I liked none of it
I’m just jumping from a job to a little better job, slowly increasing my paycheck and experience.
Besides that I honestly have no idea what I’m doing with my life, but somehow I’m doing fine
I’m a restorative dental hygienist and i don’t even think i want to do this anymore haha
Vareer wise, you’re not going to know what you are passionate about until you do lots of things. Eventually one thing will click with you. Honestly, not everyone finds that. Lots of people just have jobs they go to so they can afford to live the life they want. There is nothing wrong with that. Your career does not define you, and it does not need to be part of your personality.
Until then focus on having lots of experiences, and personal growth.

Never, and I’m 51.
I say that right now, you figure out what you’re good at. Is math pretty easy for you? Tutoring friends? Talking with people? Working with your hands?
Now, do you think want to pursue something you’re alright good at or get better at something that isn’t your strong suit? Most people pick something they’re already good at. I know I did. When I was graduating high school, I felt that I was good at history and that I liked helping my friends understand the material. So I wanted to be a teacher. After taking some semi teaching roles, I figured out that while I like helping people, I’m not great with big groups. So I decided that maybe being a therapist would be more comfortable. You don’t need to know what you want to do right now, but you do what to understand yourself and either get better at what you’re already strong at or become more well rounded and improve on something that you’re not good at.
I didnt find out what I wanted to do until my late 40’s
Up until then I just did whatever I could to make money to make a good life for myself.
I’m 35 and I still feel like I don’t know.
Sometimes you have to do a bunch of shit you don’t like till you find the shit you do. Most people arnt passionate about their careers. They are just doing a job to get by.
Do what I’m doing: maintaining a 3.5 GPA in school in a major with a guaranteeed job, while trying a bunch of random shit on the side with the goal of dropping our
I just picked something and got decent at it and it’s not exactly what I want to do but with zero passion for anything it works for now. It’ll take time but you’ll find something
I knew I wanted to do a degree, so that got me to 21. After degree, I wanted to teach abroad for a bit, so did that. Was 24 and figured I should do something with my degree, so applied for grad schemes and got onto one. I ended up getting good at it, stayed in that industry, worked my way up and am fairly successful. None of this was a grand plan, just small next steps that randomly led me to today.
I knew at 13 or 14 that all I wanted to do was work with computers and code. And things related to that. That was the most interesting thing to me so I went with it. Pursue your most interesting thing. It will pay off.
