I don’t think the crab would be the ultimate form for humans because we’re subject to far different evolutionary pressures than all other animals.
I expect our brains wouldn’t easily be able to handle the load of dealing with 6 additional appendages, and once we reached the point of augmenting or brains to have enhanced capacity we will likely want to use more than 8, or a lesser amount with many kind of sub limbs.
I think tentacles would be a more likely outcome.
