After going no contact for 6 months, my MIL’s boyfriend texted my husband this yesterday:
“I miss the earlier days of our relationship when you gave strength to your brother, Mom and your Grandmother.” AKA before we met
Heavily enmeshed family/MIL, narcissistic, co-dependent on her “favorite son” (my husband for everything), uses money from her ex-husbands to manipulate my husband into obeying or there will be consequences (how she raised my husband).
I think that text was extremely manipulative and inappropriate of MIL’s boyfriend. It just shows how reliant they are on husband for his “strength”. A son/child should never have to carry the weight of his family. Play the father role for his brother, play the caretaker/replacement husband for his mother, etc.
Am I overreacting? It’s not even 10am yet.

You’re not overreacting. That text is bullshit, and its purpose it to get you upset. My MIL used to pull this shit. My advice is don’t respond. They want a reaction.
