I 18M am having my first healthy relationship with 18F, are my feelings invalid?

r/

Her and I have been together for about 2 months and this is the first time in a while I’ve felt healthy and safe with someone.

She messaged me this morning saying that she keeps jumping into things she’s not ready for, and that she’s unsure and wants to figure things out as her own person. I said the following.

I respect whatever you choose to do. I appreciate you being open about that.

Then we talked and I told her she can take all the time she needs. She has not responded yet, and I don’t intend to text until she does. We were going to go grab a bite and watch a movie tomorrow.

I’m not mad at her and I am definitely not taking it out on her in any fashion, it just upsets me. I want to cry and I feel wrong for having these sad feelings.

I tried to be as supportive and understanding as I can. I’m still sad though. Are my feelings invalid, and did I handle it well?

Update : We just broke up. I told her I respect her choice and appreciate her honesty and openness.

I haven’t been this sad about losing a relationship in a while.

It’s valid to feel sad about a relationship potentially end. Sounds like you handled it appropriately

You are a good man. It sucks and your feelings are valid.

This one will propably sting the most as you can’t really vilify her (nor should you).

Good luck out there bro, reach out to a friend and chill with them if you can

Naw bro you did good. Your allowed to feel that way while being supportive. Your feelings and emotions will never dictate the person you are, how you react to your feelings and emotions do.

Ima tell you the harsh truth bro. If it’s been two months and this has come up, it won’t blossom into a healthy relationship. You will be left with uncertainty about if this comes up again.
