I 21 female have gotten into my first accident at driving school. They finally let me go on the road I made a turn and did not straighten the wheel fast enough. I feel terrible the cops came I was given a verbal warning. I had another driving lesson with the school in s couple days I cancelled it out of embarrassment. I honestly do not want to go back. They said it was alright but I know I’ll be known as the girl who crashed. I caused damage to both the driving car and to the parked car. I can’t tell my mom she would never let me live this down. I want to either find another school because I don’t have a car to practice with or I am thinking of maybe asking my friends.

Honestly I know it’s embarrassing and hard but you should go back to them. I HIGHLY doubt you’re the first and only student to ever wreck. It’s literally their job to teach you and help you learn from these mistakes.

This is what driving school is for! Actually, I was on the receiving end of a very similar accident recently. I don’t blame the person who caused it—that’s just life. You’re learning and you’ll never make that mistake again.

Don’t worry about it. I promise in a few weeks or months or definitely years you’ll look back at today and smile and laugh about it.
We have all had some sort of challenge that, at the time seemed like a huge catastrophe, but later on, we were able to recognise it wasn’t that big a deal. It’s how you respond that is important.
TLDR- don’t worry about it; it’s part of life to face challenges; be gentle on yourself; be more careful next time. And safe driving!

Crashes happen. Sometimes even the best, most perfect drivers can have an at-fault crash. You’ve learned a driving lesson and will always remember it. Get back in there and finish your training.

When I was in driver’s Ed one of the students in the car with me hit the gas instead of the brakes and we hit the side of a bagel shop. Miraculously, there wasn’t any obvious damage. The instructor was shocked and just told us all “this never happened”.

I crashed a friends car at 16 learning how to drive. Darn pole wouldn’t get out of my way

Hey, chill! Everyone screws up sometimes – it’s part of learning, lol. Sure, you feel embarrassed now, but trust me, the instructors have probs seen worse. I’d say own it, grow from it, and get back behind the wheel when you’re ready. Besides, a story of overcoming adversity beats a story of fleeing the scene any day…just sayin 😂🤷‍♀️🚗💥

I was not taught to drive, I drove myself with no license to go take my drivers license test which I failed miserably before we even got out of the parking lot.

I only got my license because COVID hit and the were only doing the written exams. Not a week after getting my license the sheriffs department and health department are right next to each other, they had cones set up to direct people to COVID vaccines, all the cops were standing outside talking and I knocked every single cone down.

I’m a wonderful driver now. But I wouldn’t be if I hadn’t kept trying. Do keep trying you’re not the first nor last to wreck, it’s what they have insurance for, and they call them accidents for a reason.

How did the instructor not stop the car before an accident happened

  9. Party_Length_5143 Avatar

i promise you it is so normal lol ur fine and the driving school has coverage for a reason you pay them to be liable for teaching you girlie get back in class!!!!

i freaked out in driving school because my first lesson on the freeway with two other students in the car it started raining and hailing and dented the car up and im freaking out on the highway and i asked my instructor if she wanted me to pull over and switch and she laughed at me and said “no but we will go sit under an awning in a second” sat in silence lol. And i was the weird 15 year old girl who came in kiss makeup and 5 1/2 inch heeled demonias

This happened to my friend but she wasn’t too embarrassed. She was more concerned that the driving school had told her that she had to pay for damages. Things happen, just continue with another school and I guarantee you will will be a safe driver because of your experience.

  11. Spicy-Winks Avatar

Ayy, don’t sweat it too much. We all screw up, especially when we’re learning new stuff. I say take it as a lesson, try to shrug off the embarrassment and keep at it. You gotta remember, even the best drivers had to start somewhere. Sure, maybe get a fresh start at a new school if it’ll make you feel better. But most importantly, don’t let this experience scare you off the driver’s seat for good. You got this, girl! 🙌🏻💪🏻.

  12. glandmilker Avatar

Do they still turn off the car and make you turn without power steering, they also would have you drive half way off the road doing 55

  13. cten22 Avatar

It’s about how you get back up when something knocks you down. We all are new at something once, and we all make mistakes. Try again!

I nearly hit my best friend my first time on the real road. He was waiting at his mailbox and I didn’t straighten up quick enough. Choices were either he move or I hit him. It’s been 8 years, and he’s still a magnet when I’m driving. So yea, it may not be lived down by your friends or family, but it’s literally driving school. You’re still learning, and you’re not the first who has wrecked while learning. Guaranteed. Go back, hold your head up, and if anyone tries making fun of you, say “the best way to learn is by making mistakes.” And turn away. Now you know, straighten up a little quicker. You’ve learned by making a mistake.

Also, try asking your mom or friends (assuming your friends are where you can do so legally) if whoever can take you to an empty parking lot to practice your turns. Go into a parking spot? That’s a “wreck”. But it works really well.

I backed into a parked boat when I was 16. It came out of nowhere.

You’re not alone I also hit someone my first time driving ever and it was also with the driving school! You’ll get better at driving- it takes practice. the cops came for mine too the and driving school called my parents. It was embarrassing so I totally get what you’re feeling. But it made me a more careful driver 🙂 you’ll be okay 👍

  17. Gaussian_Blue Avatar

I also hit a car while in driving school and I didn’t care. I cared maybe about paying the damages but it was not needed. Driving schools are built for this exact reason.

  18. peebender Avatar

it’s not called an on purpose for a reason girl, you’re gonna be ok! I’m 19 and have been in a much worse accident and it is just something you have to accept and move on from. i know it’s embarrassing but next time you’ll be extra extra careful and that’s your brain learning

In other news, uber wants to hire you asap

  20. Ok_Mission_2693 Avatar

lol the way you titled this makes a car crash sound like a rite of passage

  21. Elireser Avatar

I jumped a curb BAD on my second driving lesson, accidents happen you are not a professional you are actively learning you cannot let this event stop you, they have seen things and can remain calmer than your friend and if it were to ever happen again neither you nor your friend own the car so you don’t have to worry about insurance or paying for an accident if you continue with them

  22. Pizza_Buratta234 Avatar

It’s a driving school, you are there to learn and unfortunately sometimes during learning you make more or less serious mistakes.

It’s just equipment, there is insurance and no one was hurt. Continue with them and when you get your license you’ll laugh about it

  23. Easy_Tumbleweed2015 Avatar

Honestly, you are overthinking this. Accidents happen, as long as you learn from them that’s what matters.

Don’t run away from the “smoke”. Conquer that shit. I promise you, you will be a better driver after this.

    💯

One of my sisters was in an accident (her fault) 2 hours after getting her license (she t-boned a van full of cheerleaders). Another sister hit someone head on going around a curve the day she got her learners permit… accidents happen…

  25. mercuryretrograde93 Avatar

It’s driving school not experienced driver course. It’s ok! You’re safe and can go back. They have insurance for this stuff

Is your mom able to take you to a school parking lot so you can practice maneuvers in a place that is safe?

  29. ArcadianWildflower Avatar

I ran over like 6 cones while trying to parallel park, failed my test 3 times, and I’ve hit multiple unmoving objects (oops). You’re not the first or the last student to mess up or crash, I promise you everyone has accidents. Go back, I promise nobody is judging you

  30. Fit-Curve9077 Avatar

your instructor have 100% seen way worse crashes than your they won’t remember you forever as “that girl”

  31. Luuneytuunes Avatar

Please go back!!! They are there to teach you how to get better at driving, it happens. It’s better that you learn this skill now, with help, rather than try to do it all on your own and crash by yourself.

  32. Rich_Grass_9099 Avatar

The school is under the assumption that every so often someone will crash. It’s part of the learning. They’re prepared for it, and you’ll never have to see any of them again after you’ve completed your class and gotten your license. Just finish it!

  33. HylianLonk Avatar

“The girl who crashed”? You mean the 12th person who crashed this morning? Seriously you’re far from the only one who has done it, and it would be far more embarrassing if you were say 20 years having a license being made fun of by your kids. In your situation right now, not going would be far more detrimental than just going back and moving on

  34. Big-Message969 Avatar

Don’t feel bad. Im a mechanic and we had a contract with one of the driving schools in town and I stg they were in the shop every week putting new bumpers and shit on them because they were getting wrecked on a weekly basis. You are in driving school to learn how to drive. The whole entire point in the school is to make you better at driving. My dad always told me you ain’t learning if you ain’t fucking things up. lol no but seriously youre fine. And as for your mom my mom’s the same way. Dont listen to that shit she’s probably miserable and just using you as a scapegoat to make herself feel better about her short comings… or at least thats how my mom was lol

  35. ButtPlugMaster6969 Avatar

a PARKED car??? You should be embarrassed to be your age and acting like this. You should tell your mom, you’re just going to continue to be embarrassed (VALID). She shouldn’t let you live this down. This WHOLE thing sounds highly avoidable and you should just stay off the roads.

My friend in high school hit and killed a dog during drivers ed, youre fine friend! Accidents happen all the time 🙂
