I (29F) cannot quite put my finger on this ick I’m having about this guy (29M) who I recently met. We met online and from texts and several video calls he always mentions how he is a man that is respectful, will do what a man traditionally does for a woman, and other life values as if he just figured out the basic concepts of human decency. Don’t get me wrong, he’s polite, and funny and i find him attractive. But it irks me when he doesn’t really ask me what my values are but always just talks about what he is like, i.e “i can be cheeky but im respectful” “you’ve worn the pants for too long, you don’t have to when you’re with me”. I find it a bit performative and i’m not sure how to express my feelings to him. I don’t think it’s bad, it just doesn’t vibe with my vibes. I’m sure if he finds a girl that likes that, it could work.
TL;DR – Guy I’m seeing has a gentleman complex and that irks me

Trust those feelings now.
As a dude, listen to that voice. Those kinds of dudes are never good news
Trust yourself. The alarm bells are going off for a reason.
Tell him he sounds corny AF.
