Oh reddit, how you hold all the answers.
So, I need some advice on a couple areas here. She doesn’t wear jewelry. Ive never seen her wear a ring and I haven’t seen any around her place to sneak out and find her size. I was thinking about measuring her finger with some string while she’s sleeping but I was hoping the internet had better ideas.
The other half of this is I need a sleek way to find out what she might like. We were at a flee market recently and found the jewelry section and she pointed out an interest in these pastel looking, multi-color stone rings. Almost like a moon stone but the colors were more bold. I feel like that’s an odd engagement stone.
Don’t get me wrong. I firmly believe she would appreciate anything I give her but of course, we all want to make it special for the ones we love.
She also has a nickel allergy so does that mean no gold? Limited to platinum and silver bands?
I’m open to all suggestions.

I think it’s super romantic to design a ring together. That way it’s unique to both of you. It does kind of ruin the surprise though haha. Maybe you could propose with a placeholder ring then go pick out something?
Can you ask her mom or something about what she likes? Friends?
Honestly dude, this is not the situation to go into blind – do not try and proceed on guesswork and assumptions…!
Is the issue that you wanted it to be a surprise? Do you not even want her to know that you’re thinking of proposing?
To an extent, you can still achieve these things, but I would very strongly suggest that you get a very clear idea of what she likes/would be willing to wear first. I promise you that it won’t take away from the joy of a proposal.
I have seen too many irl instances of people being presented with unsuitable rings and it’s a really tricky situation – the recipient doesn’t want to appear ungrateful, but they are wondering who the hell the person bought this ring for, because it certainly wasn’t them… 🙂
Surely it’s not too much of a stretch, that when you’re discussing your future together and what that might look like, you can casually bring up a conversation about rings??
Talk to her about it. You have no idea if she even wants a ring.
