I 27/M and my Fiance 28/F have been together for about 8 years, been engaged since late last year. We’ve never really had any issues with cheating and talking to other people and we don’t go through each other’s stuff bc I feel like we both trust each other, however something has come up that is making me question some things.
Me and my Fiance work on opposite work schedules so we don’t have to hire a baby sitter. We have 2 kids together and I have 2 kids from a past relationship. She’s done a wonderful job as a mother ,and a stepmother. There was a beanie on my desk that she said was mine. When I looked at it was really close to mine but it wasn’t the same brand. I asked here where it came from and she said she didn’t know if it wasn’t mine. I dropped it and later after I came home (I had forgotten about the whole thing) she said “I think that hat might be my moms” I said “what? How? She NEVER comes over here” her mom hasn’t been to our house in almost a year (on her own choosing)
The hat was recently been washed and I looked for hair in it bc her mom is read headed it and it would have been easy to recognize the color. No luck, the hat has no hair in it and the lining of it smells like a product that would be used for greasing braids and stuff. I told her that but she doubled down that it was probably her mom’s.
I also asked the kids bc I thought maybe one of them could have brought it from school or from a friend or something but everyone was in agreement that the hat just randomly showed up within the last few days.
I don’t want to accuse her of anything bc to my understanding we’ve had a great relationship the whole time. I’m just not sure where this hat came from or how to even continue the conversation.

you need more evidence of cheating, this is nothing. do you notice other things like her behavior changing?
