This may be a stupid question but do y’all really have secret handshakes depending on what rank you are in the organization (sorry if that is not the correct way to describe Freemasonry)?
so ive always wondered what exactly IS the freemasons? i always assumed when i was younger, that ut was literally a group of masonry workers, but thats not the case obviously
Aside from the things people might think about Freemasons, can you break down what exactly the fraternity is for and why people join? Like…what’s the whole purpose behind it all, if you had the chance to summarize it as best as possible?
Are the secrets about “existence” being an amorphous dream of eternal awareness? Like everything is “one” and the same infinite radiance? Why is the secret so secret lol I just don’t get it
Or is it about Alchemy and the philosophers stone? I mean the symbols you guys employ are very esoteric, so that’s why I ask with these topics in mind
I had a mason invite me to talk about it and give me his contact info like 10 years ago because we randomly started talking, at a winery event, about all sorts of “spiritual” and esoteric stuff and he thought id be a good fit. Never did contact him though, I was kind of nervous about the whole thing lol
My FIL is a mason in one of the lodges in our country and he takes immense pleasure in trolling people who believe that what is essentially a sunday club is accused of so many conspiracy(most of the church here is convinced that you guys run the world and actively work to being the Antichrist to power lmao).
Do you have similar experiences with people accusing you of stuff like this?
My first boss was a Freemason. I never really asked him much about it. If you travel are you welcomed into other lodges for a visit? And can you join in the meetings on these travels.
Are numbers dropping? Where I live in Australia I’ve noticed they are advertising for people to join?
I have a friend who’s a Hells angel. He said they had a member that was a full patch HA and also a Freemason. They put the hard word on him and he had to make a choice, one or the other. Apparently he chose to remain a HA.
I was in the military with a freemason and one day someone called him a ring knocker, which obviously means doing a favor for another free Mason. Is this a normal thing?
I couldn’t tell you tbh. I’ve certainly had Brothers offer me some assistance with things but I and most of those who I know prefer to earn our keep and grit it through on our own.
Is it true that there is a ritual for new comers? Im not talking Eyes wide shut kind of rituals. And if so could you let us know, how these rituals manifest. Ohh one more question… is it true if you hit 33rd degree you can freely say anything about Freemasons?
I always liked the idea, but as an atheist I fall at the first hurdle – I’ve often wondered, is belief in a supreme being fundamental to understanding and appreciating being a mason, or is it worth joining as an atheist just pretending I believe? Would I get anything out of it?

Why are there certain secrets? Are there certain gifts to be received? Are there spirits you work with that require secrecy?
What degree are you?
Why were (are?) Catholics excomunicated from the church if they become a free mason? Any history on that?

Why do you think there are so many similarities between the Mormon temple ceremony and the Masonic ceremony?

This may be a weird question, but how are gender queer people received in the fraternity? Is it a disqualifier?
What happens if an individual tries to leave the organisation?
How much of the history of the group is taught at each level?

Will I get high paying jobs or important jobs if I join them?

How specifically does self-improvement work in freemasonry? Is it the general fixing diet, meditation, etc.?
What does it actually look like in practice?
Can you give me advice to lay masonry for free?
Wtf
Are you a traveling man?
Why are Masonic Lodges almost always located next to/near a Catholic Church?
