I don’t mind commercials in my music listening.

r/

I have 700 liked songs on Spotify. These are all songs that have “moved” me, and they’re from all genres (except of course New Country). I thought 700 was a large enough number to overcome repetition boredom, but I was wrong. Songs repeat, and you realize the prison you’re in. I don’t enjoy listening to music that doesn’t move me.

Listening to music now is basically like being a mouse with unlimited access to cheese. Commercials create a desire in me to hear my next song, even if it is a repeat.

I enjoyed music more when it came as a surprise on the radio.

So I’m a little confused. Do you only like music that moves you or do you like the surprise of a song on the radio?

And also, these seem to me to be separate from liking commercials in your listening

Just admit it – you don’t want to pay and don’t know how to use an adblocker.

These ads are intentionally designed to disrupt the vibe of whatever you’re listening to. They are not there to advertise for any product, they’re there to blackmail you to pay Spotify to get rid of them.

So this is an awesome springboard for me to hop onto my favorite soapbox.

The world has changed for the worst because everything is exactly what we want it to be.

50 years ago if you wanted to listen to music you had to use a radio, a big vinyl record that held like 5 songs, or go listen to music live.

The thing is, back then you could talk to people about their favorite music and movies and TV shows and they would have an opinion on them, because they also heard them on the radio or also saw it on TV.

Now everything is so personalized that there is no shared culture among anyone.

The closest thing now is maybe anime or marvel movies?

I feel like we have kind of lost something as a society because of this.

I never minded the commercials in Spotify Free. It was the restrictions. Not being able to skip after 5 skips, not being able to listen to albums in the correct order, etc.

Nah I don’t want to listen to ads this is such a weird take. If you’re getting bored of music that you’re listening to listen to better/more music.

I kind of enjoy commercials between my songs. They feel like little intermissions between tracks. And they are pretty catchy too

It would make more sense to say “I don’t mind being slapped in the face”
