I embarrassed myself in front of the whole class. How do I move on without overthinking it forever?

r/

I said something really dumb in class the other day and everyone laughed—not in a mean way, but I can’t stop replaying it in my head. It’s not the end of the world, but it feels like it, like everyone is staring and you’re the main gossip. How do you stop overanalyzing those moments and just move on?

Think of it this way – by tomorrow (at the latest) absolutely everyone in your class will have forgotten about it.

everyone is so concerned about their own lives (just like you are here with your own) that no one really puts much caring into whatever happened. I promise you that every single person in that room has something that they are concerned about in the same manner.

Might not work for u, but I try to just like about it as logically as possible. As in I state the events that happened, why I’m embarrassed, think of why it’s affecting me so much etc. For me, I find that thinking about it from a less emotional standpoint helps me move on. Not sure why, something about reframing my emotions as like cause-and-effect helps.

Also, people literally don’t care about embarrassing moments other ppl have done, everyone is too busy thinking of their own awkward moments. I literally cant recall anything embarrassing someone else has done

They probably won’t remember long. Also what does overthinking it do for you? Nothing.

You could also try laughing at yourself. Not everything is, has to be, or even should be taken seriously.
