This happened a few days ago and I haven’t told anyone
But it’s been stuck in my head ever since
I pulled into a petrol station and saw a woman struggling with way too many suitcases trying to get a cab
It was raining and late so I offered her a lift to the airport
She was really chatty
Said she was flying to Miami to visit her boyfriend who “moved there after a messy breakup with his ex”
Said he told her his ex was emotionally intense and bad with money
She talked like she felt sorry for him
It didn’t take long to click
She described his old job his flat his cat’s name
The “ex” she was talking about was me
We lived together for two years
I paid for everything
Rent bills food his visa fees his car
He didn’t work the entire time we were together
I came into some money back then through inheritance and a lucky run of sports betting
And I used it to support him fully – including buying the flights he used when he first moved to the US
So yeah
She’s flying to visit him
On a trip made possible because I funded his life while he figured himself out with her in the background
I dropped her off smiled and said nothing
She has no idea who gave her that ride
But I do
And that was enough

You should have given her a dose of the truth. Let her know what kind of a man she was dating lol
Always good when a parasite finds a new host.
Perfect.
Imagine the new girlfriend not saying his name the entire time, and then dropping her off with, a “tell ex’s name, your name says hello. 👋🏻 “
That’s an interesting coincidence. It was definitely meant to be to give you clarity about who he really was.
But to tell her you weren’t good with money? I think this is an important lesson to dig deeper into what other’s say about their exes. He was clearly talking about himself, not you.
…
I wager OP is going to add the sports betting app name as either an edit or as a comment if this hits the front page.
This is an ad; if you see someone on Reddit say sports betting, it’s a fake story and garbage guerilla marketing.
You are a strong and honorable person. 🥂Here’s to living your best life without a sponge trash talking you,
>I came into some money back then through inheritance and a lucky run of sports betting And I used it to support him fully
>redditor for 4 days
Fucking gambling guerilla marketing bullshit again.
This is an amazing story – thanks for the share. Must have been surreal
You’re pretty amazing for what you did. He’s certainly missing out.
