I had a surgery without anesthesia; a nurse tampered with the vials of fentanyl, replacing them with saline= AMA!

r/

A nurse at the the hospital where I had the procedure tampered with the fentanyl, which is a powerful opioid commonly used as anesthesia during procedures. Due to pain and trauma, I woke up during the procedure. I remember it vividly, including the response of the surgeon when I was crying.

How was it found out that the nurse tampered with the fentanyl? Why did they do that?

Were you one of the women having an egg retrieval that doctors didn’t listen to?

So what did the surgeon do? How long before they figured it out and re-sedated you? Sorry you had to go through that!

    What was the surgeon’s reaction?

Your story is full of holes. Fentanyl is not used as anesthesia. It’s a pain reliever exclusively. Propofol is used as anesthesia. And in surgery for pain relief you would have received a fenanyl infusion, not vials.

    Sure you did, sure.

Fentanyl is not used in anesthesia. And an anesthesiologist pulls and administers drugs during surgery, not nurses.

    OP is lying.
