I hate online shopping, and prefer going to individual stores

r/

This is kinda random, but I HATE online shopping. Groceries, food, anything. I always prefer to go in-person, and have a tangible sensory experience, when I’m spending my money.

Not to hate on or otherwise denigrate people who utilize retailers like Amazon, Temu, Shein, etc. These companies provide financially accessible necessities and goods. I have a disabled aunt who does most of her shopping via Amazon, and other online retailers.

Part of this is a yearning for socialization. I’m midwestern, so it’s not uncommon for a quick grocery run to turn into a 20 minute conversation with your childhood piano teacher. I’m also incredibly impatient, and I feel the protracted, yet regimented nature to in-person shopping keeps me occupied. I’m not biting my nails by the mailbox, or the door.

You get in the car, take in all the sights, get to the store, and find your desired item. It’s even more fun and fulfilling being sent on a goose chase, when this store doesn’t carry the product.

Plus, porch pirates are a real risk. I’ve had to sit at residences for family members, spanning days, waiting for expensive packages. It’s ridiculous! Though, I understand online shopping can provide a range of options and pricing.

Altogether, I understand if you’re busy/parenting/a student. Otherwise, I just don’t get it! Shopping can be a tedious and trivial chore. I don’t enjoy shopping, I just love getting out in the world.

I prefer shopping for clothes in person. I like being able to feel the fabric, see the item in person, hold it up to myself or try it on. I like not having extra packaging. I like not worrying about when it will arrive. Same goes for shoes. I enjoy interacting with people. When it’s time to pay, I like to lay out all of my things so that the bar code is facing up. Pre-2020 parking used to be hard to find. Now it is so easy to park. I also like shopping online for things I cannot buy in brick and mortar stores. But if I could only shop brick and mortar, I would.

Same. Online shopping blows in comparison. It was better when you could go to stores and shops and actually inspect what you were buying and also not have to wait for delivery I don’t find online shopping anymore convenient and quite the opposite

I think this opinion is really only unpopular with spergy shut ins and the socially inept

In person shopping was great when it was the main option. Now if you go to the mall to shop for clothes it feels like there is minimal selection to look at, they don’t have my size, or the promotions are online only. The last several times I have gone to the mall I left with nothing and went home to order what I was shopping for so I don’t bother anymore.

That just sounds awful to me. I dislike socializing in general though, despite myself growing up in Arkansas

With most things,i prefer just going and getting it at the store. But if its something specific or something where the newrest store that has it is a whole 2 hours away, ill order it online.
