Same. I had to work my fucking ass off to get out while everyone else seemingly got through life through nepotism. No questions just rooting for you.

How was the transition for you from being poor to living better. For me I find that I got so used to little simple that now things are better I am still keeping to basics and only add things that are functional

So, uh, this is embarrassing to admit, but i accidentally gambled a little too hard, and to pay for that, i won’t have alot of food for grocerys for a week, what would you get with ~15 bucks?

Are there certain situations in which people have tried to help you that made you uncomfortable?  When I was poor there were a few situations where I felt very uncomfortable with the way people were trying to help because they didn’t understand the difference between a need and a want, but also assumed I was blowing money on dumb shit.  It was really weird.

I often find that having honest conversations about money is incredibly difficult between people when there’s an economic gap between them that neither has had the experience of crossing.

Do you think thats true? Why?

What I think is that wealthy people always think poor people are less trustworthy and lack discipline and structure and poor people think all wealthy people were unfairly rewarded by some sort of circumstance that often involved exploitation or sheer luck. I don’t think either will ever have the whole picture.

But really, I just might be extremely wrong about that perspective because in the interest of honesty, I grew up in an insanely privileged household. My experience was not necessarily having fuck you money but it was definitely more like I don’t have the habit of looking at prices kind of upbringing so I often feel like I might be unintentionally too oblivious or insensitive towards some realities even though I try not to be.

You can ask me anything back as well.

What are the differences in behavior between new poor and old poor?

i used to be the same. Now I have a modest job, although that pays less than mCDonalds. I consider it to be lucky since i can afford food even though it’s sky rocket.

Back then i scrapped by to get the cheapest stuff (clearance, expired) because it was affordable. 25-40 bucks managed right gets me food for the week. Nowaday the cheap stuff, aren’t so cheap. Those discount stores are no longer. Cheap food for the week still cost me 100 plus

How do you manage ultra inflation.
