I like Spoilers

r/

I’m the type of person who enjoys the detail and nuance of how things happen much more than finding out what exactly happened. The ‘second read’ is always significantly more enjoyable for me than the first. There have been more than one instance in which I stopped engaging with a piece of media because the tension/anticipation of ‘whats gonna happen??’ turns me off. I tend to a pick up a new piece of media, get interested, and than go read a bit of the wiki or subreddit or whatever so I know (at least vaguely) what happens and how the story ends. This makes all the media I consume more enjoyable for me, personally.

    Definitely unpopular

I never cared that much about spoilers either. Just seeing the movie and how it’s executed is more important. I’m still gunna love the movie if it’s a really good movie. Plus when I hear spoilers, it’s impossible to know if they are lying or not.

  4. Grouchy765 Avatar

Yes I also like spoilers !

  5. Teleshadow Avatar

I don’t believe you. This is a Troll.

  6. Unfair_Ability_6129 Avatar

I love spoilers. I’m always amused by people who won’t share them with me after I ask.

Edit to add: I don’t spoil for others!

I have such a bad habit of looking up things in shows, if im watching a show with any will they wont they characters i just look it up, i wanna know how long it takes 4 seasons? 2 seasons? I wanna know and i only have like 2 hours in a day to watch TV

  8. tullly88 Avatar

As soon as I’m watching a new show I immediately look through the wiki for the show. I love spoilers

  9. Sudden-Ad5555 Avatar

I don’t like watching many movies, so I often read the full synopsis of a movie so I can understand references lol. I hate book spoilers and tv spoilers but movie spoilers don’t bother me in the slightest

Is it preferring anticipation over surprise?

  11. Wise-Foundation4051 Avatar

For the most part I don’t mind spoilers, I read the last page of every book well before I get to it. But if someone had spoiled something like the sixth sense, I’d probably be mad.

  12. JamesMattDillon Avatar

I am usually the same way. But at times, I don’t want to know any spoilers.

  13. Next_Gen_Valkyrie Avatar

    I agree actually.

  14. SubjectStatement370 Avatar

Yeah, agreed. I don’t mind spoilers. When people warn me about spoilers, I’m like “Eh, I ain’t too worried about it”

  15. LCJonSnow Avatar

You do you. First time experiencing it, I really like the what. However, knowing what happens doesn’t ruin the experience for me. Particularly with well written stories, I love going back and picking up details I didn’t notice the first time. ASOIAF has been particularly rewarding in that regard.

  16. Practical_Corgi7228 Avatar

100 percent! I google this once a year just to find other people like me and understand it more. You explained it well, it helps me to relax and take more in, especially horror movies..uhh

  17. forlackofabetterpost Avatar

I agree. I watch movies with my friends virtually and I will hover over the scrub bar to see a thumbnail of what’s coming later.

  18. Belial_In_A_Basket Avatar

Yes!! Me and my boyfriend were just discussing this the other day. We both are much more likely to watch a piece of media if we know the spoilers ahead of time.

  19. _0mniman Avatar

I can get with this under certain circumstances.

  20. Jaesuschroist Avatar

Agreed. Especially in shows the anticipation to the spoiled event is so good. I’ll watch 3-4 episodes waiting for the fact that X is gonna die but idk when. It’s great

  21. Existing_Charity_818 Avatar

    Huh. That… makes perfect sense.

Not my personal preference, but I can understand why you’d have that opinion. Perfect unpopular opinion, take my upvote.

  22. ploobwoob Avatar

    I agree OP!

  23. mafsfan54 Avatar

My people! I need to know what happened before how it happened. I will google any media to find out more before I even finish a movie or series. Always been this way. I hate cliffhangers with a passion. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve waited years for a series to end so that I can do the binge.

  24. Elegant-Owl9833 Avatar

i love them. MAINLY in horror. i wont spoil but i get too scared and nervously breakdown if none.

  25. Mathalamus2 Avatar

im fine with spoilers. i dont bother spoiling others unless i know they wont watch it anyway.

  26. Curious-Cranberry-27 Avatar

I’m with OP on this one. I always read the synopsis of a movie before seeing it and frequently read the ending of a book before I start it…

  27. KlinxKreations Avatar

i don’t like spoilers. BUT! I have adapted the mentality to look away as fast as possible and even if i got spoiled i try to shift my mentality towards “what leads up to this? how does this happen?” rather than “oh my god the whole story is ruined i hate this”

  28. digilici Avatar

    posts my sister would make

  29. RogueTrooper-75 Avatar

I hate spoilers, but my dad always reads the last page of a book then starts at the beginning.
