I never finish tv shows/books, normal?

r/

My best friend made me post this.

Apparently something is wrong with me because I never finish my favorite tv shows or books. I just don’t watch the last episode or read the last chapter. I like to leave the story unfinished.

I do finish movies, mostly because it feels wrong to just stop something mid movie. But I don’t always finish a movie series if I really like it (usually because sequels disappoint me anyways).

Anyone else? I can’t be the only one.

Do you get bored of the stories, or do you want to leave them unfinished so you don’t have to say “goodbye”?

Either way yes this is bizarre.

It’s entertainment. Do as you like. You may have ADD tho

My fiancé also leaves a lot of shows unfinished. It has something to do with his anxiety, he says. He doesn’t really read books. I could not leave my favorite books or shows undone. But I look at it as he and you just like to do things differently.

Do you intentionally not finish them or do you kind of get disinterested/forget about them?

I do the latter a LOT but I suspect it’s a symptom of my untreated ADHD.

I have the same issue. I’ve come to realize I have a problem with things coming to an end.

If I really like the show or book I will hold off finishing cause I don’t want it to end. 6 months is probably the longest

    Yes. Kinda. Maybe?

I wouldn’t say normal but I get it and a think a lot of people get it. It sounds weirder when you actually say it, but it’s something I’ve done a couple times without fully realizing it.

I have a habit of not watching the last season of a show I like

Your phrasing here is interesting to me.

I don’t think anything is wrong with you, however if you want to be introspective about it, maybe you just dislike things coming to an end, or having to say goodbye to characters, or you just like the mystery of it. I don’t think there is anything wrong with asking yourself these deper questions and learning more about yourself, but also have the courage to say there isn’t anything wrong with the way you enjoy entertainment, even if it is a bit unusual.
