when i started dating my partner, i told him i “loved cooking” beacause i wanted to impress him. In reality, i barely knew how to boil pasta. Every dinner i made was a frantic combo of you tube, google and panic

I did the same, pretended to love baking, but barely knew how. Googled everything. In the end, effort mattered more than skill.
Oh my goodness, it’s so easy to get caught up trying to be someone else, isn’t it, but you know what? At least you’re being honest now, and that’s what really matters, and I’m sure your partner will appreciate that more than any perfectly cooked meal anyway, plus, you’re doing just fine.
