I stole $.50 cent pieces that my dad had in his closet for ice cream as a kid.

One summer about 45 years ago I watched my little sister for the summer while mom worked. I found out that my dad had a can with a bunch of 50 cent pieces and I would take one now and again and we would walk to the local store for ice cream. I only realized much much later that they were probably silver and that those ice creams were FAR more expensive than I realized. To this day no one knows about it even though I am sure dad knew someone took them. The thought of how much I stole from him haunts me to this day. He is long since gone and so I can’t do anything to ease my mind about it.

Fuck me, I did the same stupid thing. Except there were also $2 bills that had a blue department of treasury seal. What a scumbag ice cream van guy.

He probably noticed early and switched the silver for look alikes. Knowing you got joy from ice cream and it felt a bit naughty he probably didn’t say anything to preserve that joy.

    That’s what I would do 🙂

Or gawd dam that was expensive ice cream lol

Guilty I did it also. But we were poor so I think daddy’s was actually worth 50 cents and he pretended they weren’t. We’re even I paid all his bills in my adult life

The punishment is simple. That silver is prolly worth 35-50$ today. Do your best to pay for some kids’ ice cream. Do this until you reach 50$. It could keep a kid from making the mistake you made. Once you have achieved this all guilt will be gone. It’s the law.
