I stole tons of CDs & DVDs from Best Buy while I worked there in college (2005)

r/

There was a machine to re-wrap products that the plastic wrapper had started to come off of and once a month I would volunteer to re-wrap product and take my cart around and pick all the CDs and DVDs I wanted, even if it didn’t need repair, and then go to the back staff only area where the machine was. We always did this job alone. And as I rewrapped I took the discs out that I wanted and put them in my cargo pants, rewrap the product and put it back on the shelf. I feel bad people eventually purchased empty product and I would never do this now. I can’t believe I got away with it for so long. I would slip the discs into my CD binder that was in my backpack already for my discman (lol we really walked around with luggage back then). So yeah, super lame of me and I obviously didnt have the cases, but I was happy lol.

Can’t believe they didn’t figure it out. Guy volunteers to be alone with product, several people complaining/returning items that were missing. Pretty easy to catch you if the manager cared to figure it out.

I used to do this at Walgreens with beer. I’d volunteer to stock the cooler, and I’d just drink the beers that were in the “Return to vendor/damaged” bin.

I did the same with Columbia Clearing House. They just kept sending me CDs and DVDs and I just kept keeping them and never paying.

When I worked at Best buy, once a month I would just tell the store we needed to open new movies for the demos and no one ever wondered where they would go to after that

I use to go to PharMor and they kept the disc behind the counters and just had empty cases. If I bought a cd I didn’t like I’d take a key to the bottom and return it telling them it was scratched. They never questioned me, I guess they figured it happens when you separate the CD from the case.

I did this at Walmart. I’d slide cds into my vest pocket while stocking. Lean over the register throughout my shift to deactivated the security strip. If they ever stopped me, my plan was to say I put it in my vest when a customer asked for help and forgot about it.

One other person knew I did this. They tried something similar with a paintball gun after I had left and got busted.
