Just a scream into the void, but anyone else seemingly only get their period when they have an important event?
Birthday? Period
Going to a wedding? Period
Going to the fai in another state? Period
I get mine very irregularly, but without fail if I’m dressed nice or going to an event it’ll rear it’s ugly head.
At least I can use it to justify getting a burger between two doughnuts at the fair tomorrow. Need that iron lol

My period is like clockwork, very regular, but somehow, it still lands on all the important things I have, and sometimes causes me to not attend them because I become too sick.
Let’s scream into the void together.
Birth control pill is nice for moving periods around
I feel you on that. I’m entering perimenopause and I’m the last three times I had to travel for work my cycle adjusted so that either travel day was when I started, so I have to juggle that when travelling too.
Mine was like that too. I use the pill to put the kibosh on the whole thing. Even if my period finished right before an event, it would start up all over again on the day of. People tried telling me it was stress but that made zero sense because it happened even with positive/no stress things.
Last two concerts I attended, my period decided to show up two days before. Incredibly rude!!
I was on day 17 of my period on my wedding day, so I feel ya. I had to switch birth control pills to no estrogen because of high blood pressure with only a few months until the wedding, and my body just did not figure itself out in time.
It’s so disappointing when periods line up with important moments.
My period was regular when I started but without fail I’d get it on the first big summer weekend, and the first big beach day, and any major holiday.
I remember we managed to do a cruise to Bermuda and I had gotten my period just after we got home. I am still in awe.
I use an IUD and my cycles have stopped. But I still plan to bring backups because I’m planning a beach trip and who the hell knows.
Mine used to come whenever husband came home and we wanted to get raunchy.
I was always in too much pain 😤
100% yes. Any plans at all ever, here comes shark week.
This happened to me when I was younger. I was so anxious, the doctor said stress might have made it come early.
Adds up. Stopped being as much of an issue after I got on anxiety meds. I’ve always been super regular unless anxious a ton during the month.
I’m due on the weekend coming up. Had the beginning signs earlier this week – swollen boobs, pms, etc. Had a minor surgery yesterday, and that’s all I thought about beforehand… please, please don’t let me start early on the table!!!
My husband and I were long-distance for almost two years. We saw each other roughly once a month. Even though the dates changed, I was on my period roughly 85% of the time we spent together. For two years. Including our wedding.
I haven’t had one in years, but a trip to a water park ALWAYS brought it on!
I have PLANS this weekend and my period was supposed to start this weekend too.
Lo and behold, my period came early last weekend instead.
Cause for celebration, right?
Nope. Had spotting yesterday, hoping that’s it.
Mines done the same since I had my last kids (twins in 2021)… cycle is roughly 24 days long, then it would go 24 days, then a 14 day cycle, jump to 27 days, back to 24 days, then sometimes down to 20, then 14 again, jump to 27… and it just continues. I got my period on our big camping trip last week… should have been a “normal” cycle… but it skipped and came at 15 days… we ended up leaving early (among a myriad of other things going on). I tried to have faith it wouldn’t be that way… that’s what I get haha! Bled through underwear and pants and got on our bed. 🤦🏻♀️
Of course it does. That’s what it is for. To ruin everything.
Growing up I felt exactly this!
EVERY big fun event. EVERY family vaca. EVERY sleepover. = Period.
I’ve gone anywhere from 2-11 months between periods during peri, but you can bet it comes at the most inconvenient time ever. I have to have a pap every 5 years, this was the year, it came just in time for my appointment. They did the pap anyway and it was inconclusive so I have to repeat it. JUST LIKE 5 YEARS AGO. WHEN should I schedule it? IDK.
I get the craziest worst cramps and during college I got my period during every midterms and finals week 😭
Your mental state can absolutely affect your period timing.
It’s not just your imagination.
(I’m sure perception bias is part of it, just not all of it.)
Yep. I just returned from vacation and had mine the whole time. I’m on day 22 of bleeding.
I went above and beyond for a damn year with seasonalle to try and get my period gone/stable, just to get my period at Burning Man in 2012.
As a teenager, mine would appear like magic within 10 minutes of steeping onto the two-hour train trip into the capital city regardless of where I thought I was in my cycle. There were often no bathrooms on that train, and when there was, no sane person would want to go into them, they were beyond filthy.
When I was older, it knew about the airport, and I would start to bleed anytime I was at one, again, regardless of where I thought I was in my cycle. And by that time, there were apps that tracked your cycle so I knew I wasn’t ‘bad at remembering’ as my mother claimed with regard to the trains.
Other popular times to get an unexpected period were dates that I was hoping to turn into overnights and during job interviews. It was unnerving in its timing.
The only reason it didn’t show up on my wedding, I am sure, is because I was already pregnant.
I was taking depo shots for a bit and I’ve just decided to stop because I’ve had my period for almost a month this is hell
Yep! Last month had a two day road trip and it came 5 days early and on the morning of the trip. But, in a way it wasn’t too bad since I didn’t have to do anything but read and eat snacks;)
When I was a teen/20-something before I got on the pill it would show up and stick around for the entire duration of a vacation (10-14 days)
If it’s doing that go get checked out. I found I have uterus didelphus and it is basically two periods slightly overlapping. Pill ends up syncing them up better
I live in New Zealand. Last year I went on a 6 week trip to the UK and Iceland. My period wasn’t due until after I got home. Guess who turned up early so I was dealing with heavy day bullshit on long-haul flights?
Aunty Flo is such a good-time ruining bitch. (And she makes bad times worse. Like when you’re sick, she turns up early because clearly, you aren’t miserable enough.)
