I think I bought a Lemon

So I live in Georgia, and I bought a car last november from a used car dealership. In about 12 days of driving my car the check engine light came on. This happened as I was waiting on my tag to come in the mail. Fast forward to the day I was supposed to get the tag it was delayed. I contacted the used dealership about it and their response was it was sent to the tag office instead of it being sent in the mail. Due to my check engine light I am unable to get my tag (failed emission). Did I buy a lemon?

    Used cars are not lemons.

But what is the actual issue causing the check engine light to come on? And do you have reason to believe this dealership concealed that issue or did they outright make false claims about the car?

So have you had your check engine light checked to see what kind of code it’s throwing? A check engine light coming on does not equal a lemon, and your tags not coming in the way you expected them to also do not constitute a lemon. You’ve got plenty of steps you can take for yourself before jumping to legal advice, but very often when you buy a car at a used car lot you get the car as is. Take it to Auto Zone, let them check your engine, and go from there.
