I think I’m addicted to masturbation and adult content need advice

r/

Hey everyone,
I’ve been dealing with something for a while and could really use some honest advice.

It all started when I came across a website where you can meet and chat with strangers on cam. At first, I was just curious, but I quickly realized that most people on there were gay, femboys, or sissies. I’m not gonna lie I found myself attracted to them. That’s when I started thinking I might be bisexual.

At first, I was just watching, but later I started exposing myself too. It became something I did almost every day. It felt exciting at the moment, but later I realized I was getting addicted to it. So, I stopped for a while.

But recently, I bought an IPTV subscription just to watch sports and I found that it includes adult content too. That somehow triggered my old habits again. Now, I find myself watching it daily, and I’m worried that I’m slipping back into addiction.

So I’m here asking do you think this is an addiction? And if so, what can I do to break this cycle?
I want to get my focus and control back. Any real advice or similar experiences would be super appreciated.

Take time to reflect on how you could distance yourself from content like this. By making barriers/ adult content harder to access your making it more of a conscious decision to find or access which will make you think more and hopefully make your behaviour less of a routine and make you thoughtful in deciding if this is what you want in your process of trying to stop.

Trying to distract yourself and focusing your energy towards other things might be a good way of making this habit less consuming of your time and making yourself feel better. Like taking up new hobbies or interests maybe even exciting or more risk taking things to replace the feeling you get from this addiction. This might take up more of your time and make it less of a temptation.

Also with all addictions stopping is hardest at first but just know it will get easier as time goes on and your body and mind adjusts. You’ve got this!

When I think of masturbation addiction I think of people wanking til they’re raw and bleeding, like a dozen times per day. Nothing wrong with having a wank once or twice per day, but more than that and you might want to cut back.

How much have you spent on this? Is it more than you can afford? Is it keeping you from going out with real people or making you less interested in a real relationship? The test with whether something like this is an issue is whether it’s impacting your ability to engage in other healthy behaviors. If it is, you gotta deal with that. If not, there’s nothing wrong or abnormal about jerking off.

If you can’t stop, and the habit takes a lot of your time, or if it’s repeated everyday regardless to your energy and your free time. And if you feel This habit affects you negatively and stands between you and your life, so yes, this is an addiction.

How to stop? Hard, I can’t tell. But find the triggers, what triggers you to do such a thing, find something to do instead of this. To kill a habit, you need a new one to take it’s place.

Addicts anonymous might be a good start, any addiction generally takes the same behaviour change steps to kick it

    > I did almost every day

Depending on your age, daily masturbation through pornography is not excessive, provided you’re not spending hours a day on it. Unless it’s actually interfering with other parts of your life, it’s more a form of recreation, not an addiction

Addictions are habits that harm :
    You / your relationships
    Your work
    Your schooling
    Your family
    Your other interests
    Your intelligence
    Etc
    If not it’s fine !
