So last week, I came home from work, and my front door was slightly open. I never leave it like that.
Instant panic.
I walked in slowly, heart pounding, clutching a metal water bottle like it was a weapon. Every room looked untouched… except the kitchen.
There, on the counter, was an open pack of cookies I didn’t buy. And one was half-eaten.
I checked the windows. Locked. No one inside. No signs of a break-in.
I legit thought I was going insane. Called my best friend freaking out.
She says, “Wait… did you forget I was cat-sitting while you were at work? I stopped by earlier.”
Oh.
Turns out she brought her snack, got hungry, and left it there like a savage. Didn’t think to text me.
So yeah. Thought I was getting murdered. Just got mildly betrayed by a cookie thief.

That isn’t worse, it’s better. You’re embarrassed, but bring burgled is certainly much worse. Glad all is well.
How is she a cookie thief if she brought the cookies lol??
I’d still be concerned about her leaving your door open. Especially if you have a cat (an indoor cat, anyway). That doesn’t seem like a good thing to do.
Areee that’s just hilarious.
Is your cat still in the house? Like 1/2 the job of a pet sitter is to keep the animal in the house… I’m glad it wasn’t a burglar but damn, shut the front door when you leave so no one wanders in or, out.
Cat sitter who leaves the door open….? Hard pass!
