i wanna change my name from yulian to jodi due to bullying and trauma with my parent who gave me the name but i don’t know if jodi is a boys name

r/

i’ve read some places it’s unisex, since it’s a nickname
but i don’t know, really could this be used as a valid boys name? i’m just asking because once i change my name, its changed

Jodi is most commonly a girl’s name in the U.S. and most English-speaking countries

I’ve never heard Jodi used as a boy’s name in an English-speaking country.

if anyone has a recommendation for a short unisex name like that, i wouldn’t mind hearing suggestions

Jodi is technically unisex but usually seen as more feminine.
If you want it to sound more masculine, Jody is a better spelling for that.

But honestly? The most important thing is that the name feels right for you. If you like Jodi, go for it with confidence.

i talked with my friend, i chose nikita [yes… that may sound like a girls name, to other countries but, where i live that’s a boys name]

Well, in the US military, “Jody” is commonly used to describe a man who sleeps with the wives of deployed soldiers. Why? Because it’s usually a girl’s name, so the wife can say “I’m hanging out with Jody.” or “Jody spent the night.” without revealing that it’s a man they are spending time with.
